Fixture Fees
Racecourses are charged Fixture Fees by the British Horseracing Authority to cover the cost of the licensed officials, the security and veterinary field forces and other costs that are deemed necessary to ensure that the high standards of integrity demanded by the Rules of Racing are met for every fixture.
Control of Doping
Samples are taken from horses at race meetings and tested for signs of doping. The analytical service is backed by relevant research, priorities for which are agreed with the British Horseracing Authority.
The HBLB provides a grant to the racecourses towards the cost of regulatory officials and drug testing. From 1st January to 30th June 2010 a grant of £12,897 per fixture is paid to racecourses. From 1st July to 31st December 2010 a grant of £11,825 per fixture will be paid.
Integrity Fee Grants
Integrity Fee Grants are paid by the HBLB to racecourses to enable them to purchase camera patrol and photofinish integrity services which are required at all fixtures. An Integrity Fee Grant of £4,025 (from £4,245) is paid.
Those racecourses that provide all or part their own camera patrol and/or photofinish are also paid an Integrity Fee Grant subject to separate negotiations with the HBLB.
